The 2023 Hearts for Jesus project is Juan 3:16!
Ohio District Congregations and Schools,
Each school year, our congregations and schools are invited to participate in The Ohio District Hearts for Jesus Project. Each year we support a mission that is sharing the love of Christ. Churches and schools that participate can support this project with your prayers, Sunday school offerings, chapel offerings, or special events to raise funds in the month of February (or whatever time frame you choose).
This year we are going to support the work of The Lutheran Heritage Foundation. The specific mission project that our district will support this year is called “Juan 3:16.” The participation of our churches and schools in the Juan 3:16 service project will provide Bible storybooks and Bibles with the Small Catechism (bound together in one book) in the Spanish language. These books are given free of charge to the people, churches and missionaries who request them, not only in Central and South America, but also for immigrant outreach right here in Ohio. Best of all, it only costs $5 to print and distribute one of these Spanish Bibles/Bible storybooks – making it the perfect mission project for schools and churches of any size. Through your support, Spanish-speaking kids throughout the Americas can learn about Jesus in a language they can read and understand.
Pastors who serve at The Lutheran Heritage Foundation are available to present at your chapel services or your congregation. If you are interested in a pastor coming to speak, please contact Rev. Dr. Matthew Heise, Executive Director of The Lutheran Heritage Foundation, at mheise@LHFmissions.org.
Please submit any funds raised this year to The Ohio District with ‘Hearts for Jesus’ in the memo line. Do not send any funds directly to The Lutheran Heritage Foundation. We will combine all the funds collected/submitted by March 31st and present them with a check. Any funds received after the deadline will be saved to support next year’s Hearts for Jesus Project.
Thank you for your support last year as we raised over $5,000 for Kings Community Outreach and the service project at The Connections Conference. They were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our district congregations and schools!
If you have any questions, please contact Kevin Creutz (creutzk@oh.lcms.org) or Sara Krek (kreks@oh.lcms.org) in our district office. God’s blessings on your ministry!
