Archives

The Ohio District Archive is located at the Ohio District office in North Olmsted, Ohio and stores information of historical interest about the following entities:

  • Current active congregations of the Ohio District
  • Closed congregations of the Ohio District
  • The Ohio District itself (founding, past District conventions, work of past District officers)

Current Active Congregations of the Ohio District

The Archive has no records of official acts (Baptisms, confirmations, weddings, funerals). Contact the congregation yourself.

The Archive has information about such things as the founding, the pastors, and the milestones of these congregations.

Closed Congregations of the Ohio District

The records of the official acts of closed congregations are kept at the Reference Department of the Concordia Historical Institute, not at the Ohio District Archive. There are exceptions:

  • St. Luke Lutheran Church, Sauer Ave., Cleveland
  • St. Paul Lutheran Church, E. 55th St., Cleveland
  • Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Portsmouth

The Archive has information about such things as the founding, the pastors, and the milestones of some, but not all closed congregations. You may also contact the Reference Department of the Concordia Historical Institute. NOTE: There is an hourly charge for research done by the Concordia Historical Institute.
